Book Review Tour : Protostar by Braxton A. Cosby

Book Blurb

On the brink of Civil War, the Torrian Alliance continues with its mission to obliterate Star-children across the universe in order to suppress an intergalactic evil. Following the recommendations of his Council, King Gregorio Derry has agreed to send his only son William, on a mission to restore honor to his family. What starts out routine, becomes a lot more complicated as an inopportune crash landing delays the assassination. During this time, William begins to form a 'connection' with Sydney that challenges his inner being. But this conflict is the least of his problems, as a conspiracy back on his home planet Fabricius threatens the lives of those he loves and his father's royal legacy. Along with that, he must unravel a hidden threat here on Earth that seeks to secure a vested interest that threatens both his and Sydney's safety. Will William be able to complete his mission or will he choose love, sacrificing everything he stands for?

My Review

First of all I must say that I am not a great fan of science fiction and this probably is my first science fiction book ever. I gave in for it was in YA and Romance genre and also the amazing book cover. And yes I wanted to know how science fiction and romance go hand in hand. The blend was really good to my surprise.

The book is about Prince William, who is from another galaxy, is sent to earth to kill a star child. Killing this star child was an unfinished business and his predecessors have failed. Now William is their only hope since this star child is a threat to their galaxy. The star child here being Sydney, who has just turned seventeen, is all unknown about her potentially lethal destiny and lives her life simple.

While the task was to kill the star child and get back to his planet Fabricius, which is located hundreds of light years away, William makes the mistake of getting to know Sydney which eventually lands him in trouble because he is unable to kill this simple, lovable girl.

I loved almost everything - the writing style, the love story, the twists and turns and also each character. My personal favorite is Prince William and IMPI. The story is all about love which has no boundaries. The language is quite simple and lucid and very easy to digest as well. The thing that attracted me more towards this is book is the twists and turns in the story. I loved all the twists and turns.

Over all it’s a wonderful, heart-warming book about finding love in the least unexpected way and fighting for it. Can’t wait more to grab the second part J

Chilling in this Heat

I have been busy for a while with my thesis work and my project reviews that i haven't posted anything new. Finally I am done with my M-Tech and yes i graduated with flying colors :) All that hard work and sleep deprived nights did pay well.

Before i go into the usual job hunting phase, i thought i should take a break and here i am sitting in my room holding a laptop and the temperature here is 37 degrees plus. Its scorching heat outside. The kind of heat that could burn you, if you stand continuously for an hour or so outside. Ahhhhhhhhhhh...... So the vacation idea is kind a spoiled. But still i manage by going into dream land by holding a book in my hand.

Books are definitely a great idea to escape from this terrible reality ;-) This month started of as a very busy month and lots of unexpected and sad stuffs happened in my life. But i manage to brave out with my smile. Haa!!!! Life is definitely a mixture of ups and downs.

75% downs and 25% ups

I hadn't managed to read anything new, until this week :( So i kick started my bookish-self by reading a chick-lit. I love chick-lit. Everyone does. They really do know how to change your mood and bring back a smile (well, at least in my case). I started on with "The Undomestic Goddess" by Sophie Kinsella. This was my second book of Sophie Kinsella. Earlier I had read "I've got your number" based on a recommendation from GR friend and I loved her writing.

So i didn't hesitate a little when i saw this book and instantly started reading it. Thanks to eBooks and eBook readers, you needn't have to wait for your shipment :D :D This was another hilarious read and I enjoyed it a lot. I was so addicted to reading that I had to skip dinner, which normally happens when my brain is working.

The book is about a Workaholic lawyer Samantha Sweeting, who is very intelligent and has zero social life, managed to end up doing a mistake which cost her firm a loss of 50 million dollars. She had put her heart and soul into this job and was working very hard to become the youngest partner of her law firm when this unexpected happen. She vanishes off, having had a nervous breakdown and ends up in a country side village where she is mistakenly taken in for the job of a housekeeper.

The story then speaks of how she manages to learn the art of cooking and cleaning and maintaining a house and how she finds it all pleasant and happy, how she finally finds herself a happy place.

At one point she has no idea how to use an iron and tells her boss that she can't figure it out because she's "far more used to working with a Nimbus 2000". it was quite a funny read.

Sam's character was smart, witty and finally she manages to show maturity.
The book offered nothing but fun and laughter :) Well, I loved everything about the book, the way how the message was delivered. You put in too much effort and sometimes you don't get anything back. Too much commitment can destroy you. Having a life is sometimes very important.

Sophie Kinsella manages to bring in the ultimate message through fun and laughter and that's what I like about her writing.
I would definitely like to read more of her work.  I recommend it all Kinsella fans and also chick-lit lovers :)

4/5 stars.

Now that i have revived i would definitely go back to my old reading list. Here's a peek at my kindle list.

The next on the list is Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse.

Meanwhile on the other side, i did perform my duty of being an Indian by casting my vote :)

Hope all of you did too !!!!!!

So now i am signing off and will be back soon :)

Cheers :)

Scribblings

I guess its been a reeeeelly long time since i logged in and posted anything on my blog.
Well life has been busy. Not to mention the laziness..

So finally i retrieved my long lost password and here I am back to scribbling.

So here is a glimpse of what i have been up to, not regularly though.

I have been reading a lot of books. Reading has been such a fun.

Showcasing my "mini" collection.

I have been clicking pictures randomly.
Long Lost bridge

A Lone traveler

Vintage obsession

Of blurry nights

More of my selfies and other passions can be found  http://instagram.com/the_nomad_in_me

I happen to get a tattoo done and this how it looks now :-)

And yes i did try my hand on poetry and this is how it goes :-

What is the rhythm of life,
She keeps asking herself,
Wide awake at night,
Wondering what melody life has chosen for her.

Her days starts and ends with books,
The only companions she prefers to have,.
Has she lost her hope with the world.

All around her room, you find books, piles of them.
Her best friends are the Oscar Wildes and the Hemingways.
Has she lost her hope with this world.

Wide awake at night,
She stares at the roof,
Thinking,
What is the rhythm of her life.
What melody has her life chosen for her

Well the poem pretty much sums up the whole scenario. So off i go now. Will be back soon :)

Ruin is a Gift

Ruin is a gift
Ruin is a transformation

You loose all your self and happiness in a relation - and when you come out of it,  you sit and  realize what wrong you did and what could have been better.
But the moment has gone… It might have ruined everything in you.. Your self confidence, your smile, your attachment with people.. But when you look back - it must have been the best experience you ever had in your life and maybe it was worth it…
The moment you hold the right person's hand - you ll feel d difference.. You would feel why such a "RUIN" happened in your life which helped you to transform into a new being , a new element...
Every experience is worth it…. Every experience is makes you a bit stronger and firmer than what you were before….
Embrace every moment and smile each time you meet a new person...
Read alooooooooooooooottttttttttttttt..............
And Love the life Almighty has gifted :D

Three simple rules in life :-)

When ever i read anything interesting i pen it down, so that i can think about it and apply it in my life tooo.... More than anything what really matters is the hands on experience :-) Like the experiments we do in our labs, where we get electric shock or get burnt or breaking a leg trying to win a football match - those are amazing moments that actually teaches what life is worth or what we really are !!! i happen to read one of my friend's blog where he mentioned about the what he gained and lost in a year :-) it was really interesting to read, how he summed things up and the POSITIVE ATTITUDE..

Its only after we lose things that we understand what we have GAINED... more of philosophy :P

Agnipariksha

i happen to read this article on the eve of women's day... since then it has always been there in my mind vividly...
Thought i would write it in my blog too :-)

"I too have given agnipariksha,
Not one - but many
Everyday, a new one.
However, this agnipariksha
Is not to prove myself worthy of this or that Ram
But to make myself
Worthy of freedom.
Every day your envious, dirty looks
Reduced me to ashes
And everyday, like a Phoenix, I arose again
Out of my own ashes ... ... ...
Who is Ram to reject me?
I have rejected that entire society
Which has converted
Homes into prisons."
